For NAIDOC week Year Three had a very interesting and inspiring session with local Aboriginal Elder Trish Ellis. She spoke about NAIDOC week, Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week. She also provided some information about Aboriginal History and answered all the questions students had. We also painted some rocks with an Aboriginal theme and wrote poems about the NAIDOC week theme ‘Heal Country.’
Every Thursday two students join Aiden and Mrs Tuan for cooking in the staff room. It’s lots of fun as well as a great learning and development opportunity. Plus we get a yummy treat to eat!
Well done to Zara, Poppy and Lachie for receiving awards in this year’s Mayor’s Writing Challenge. Once the school receives the published book I will add their pieces to this blog.
Congratulations to all students for presenting great speeches in class and for those students who competed in the Stage 2 finals. A special congratulations to Zara from 3J and Sophia from 4M who represented our school at he Regional Finals in Ulladulla.
On Monday 29th March the Year 3 classes combined for a STEM day. Students completed eight different activities including Edison robots, coding, using the digital microscopes, bridge building, tower building, designing and making an Easter basket, rubber band bungee for an action figure and a friction experiment. It was a fantastic day and we look forward to doing it again in Term 2.
3J students did an awesome job at the school cross country carnival on Tuesday 30th April. We have 5 students heading off to the District Cross Country on the first Friday back. Good luck to Poppy, Bonita, Ethan, Quinn and Phin.
As part of our writing lessons during the last week of term students planned and wrote a fable, presented as a storybook for a younger friend or family member. Students were really enthusiastic about this task and the finished results were fantastic.
